Place Bets by Signals Action

Updated on 2026-04-10

The “Place Bets on Signals” action allows you to use Signals generated by the corresponding feature to place bets on the market.

How it works
Among the valid signals, those referring to selections included in the market where the strategy is applied will be searched. If the parameters set for the action are compatible with the signal, the corresponding bet will be created and placed on the market.

Each signal can be used only once per strategy execution. If you want to use a signal multiple times, you must rerun the strategy, duplicate the signal by changing the provider name, or place the bet using a different strategy.

By enabling the appropriate option in the automation action, you can restrict placement only to signals that do not have the fields related to the last bet populated.
When these fields are populated, they include the bet ID, its date, and the name of the strategy that placed the bet. These values can be reset by editing the signal from the Signals window.

If the Provider field is set, only signals related to the specified provider will be used. The comparison is case-insensitive.

When a bet is placed by a strategy using a signal, the Signals list will populate the following columns:

  • Bet ID (BetId)
  • Date and time of placement
  • Strategy name

The bet ID is assigned by Betfair and is the same as the one shown in the Closed Bets and Open Bets tables in the Bet Status window. In simulation mode, the ID is assigned by Betting Toolkit and represents a simulated bet.

Placement odds
If the signal includes odds and the action option “Use signal odds if provided” is enabled, the signal odds will be used. Otherwise, the odds specified in the action will be used.

Signals with odds range
If the signal includes an odds range and it is not compatible with the odds specified for the bet, the bet will not be placed unless the “Ignore odds limits” option is enabled.

Bet stake
The stake can be adjusted using the “Points” value from the signal, if available and if the corresponding option is enabled. In this case, the specified stake will be multiplied by the value in Points.

Bet types
The action can be configured to use BACK signals, LAY signals, or both.
