Home BETTING TOOLKIT USER GUIDE Introduction Odd Types
Some program features (Cash Out, Void, Dutching) use specific terminology to refer to the book's odds, depending on the current book structure.
In detail, there are four fundamental odds:
A= Available odds
A1 = Available odds +/- 1
P1 = Ahead of the book
P = Most profitable odds
These odds are easily identifiable on a back or lay book, as shown in the following figures. The most profitable odds are those on the side of the spread that makes the bet most profitable. This means that for a back, it is the lowest odds available for laying, and vice versa for a lay, it is the highest odds available for backing. The risk with this approach is having to wait for book movements to see the bet matched.
In some software, you may find the term Green Up or Hedge Up instead of Cash Out, and the case of a Cash Out made on the most profitable odds is sometimes referred to as Reverse Greening.
The available odds are the ones that cause the immediate match, but they are also the least profitable.
